KomPlasTech was founded in 1993 in Kraków by Professors Maciej Pietrzyk (AGH) and Antoni Piela (Silesian University of Technology) as a national conference on computer methods in metals technology. In the early 2000s its scope widened to all materials and the meeting became international, beginning with the 2007 edition in Zakopane. It brings together researchers in computer methods and materials science with industrial partners, to exchange information and experience on numerical modelling across scales — macro, meso, micro and nano. The 2027 meeting is the thirtieth in the series.

NeuroMet, is a platform for exchanging experience in applying artificial intelligence to the simulation and control of metallurgical processes. Its programme spans machine learning, Industry 4.0, data analysis and optimisation, physics-informed neural networks and large language models.

The conference is as much a meeting place for companies as for academia: a forum where researchers and industry partners exchange ideas, knowledge and experience on the complex problems of materials processing — putting numerical modelling and artificial intelligence in the same room, where they increasingly belong.

The conference is hosted by AGH University of Krakow, the institution that founded the KomPlasTech series in 1993 and remains one of Europe’s leading centres for computational methods in materials engineering.
