Call for Proposals

The editorial and scientific board of the journal Co-herencia invites researchers, professors, and scholars affiliated with national or international institutions to submit proposals for thematic issues/dossiers, and to apply to serve as Guest Scientific Editors for Volume 25, Issue 48 (covering the period January–June 2028).

Presentation and Scientific Scope of the Journal Co-herencia

Co-herencia is an indexed scientific journal, published biannually, under Diamond Open Access with a CC BY 4.0 license, and edited by the School of Arts and Humanities at EAFIT University. Indexed in major international databases such as Scopus (Arts & Humanities, Q2 SJR), Co-herencia ensures methodological rigor, double-blind peer review, and high ethical publishing standards. The journal is published in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.
Published without interruption since 2004, the journal aims to serve as a forum for interdisciplinary discussion on the contributions of the humanities and the arts to the shaping of a thoughtful, critical, and deliberative community. Its scope and thematic axes are concentrated mainly on:

- Literary Studies: Literary theory; Literary genres; Classical tradition; Hermeneutics; Canon, criticism, and history of literature in the Americas; Writing and orality; Translation; Reception; Literary creation; Semiotics; Editing studies; Journalism and literature; Applied literature.

- Philosophical Studies: Critical theory and social philosophy; Ethics; Political philosophy; Aesthetics; Epistemology; Philosophy of science and technology; Philosophy of mind; Cosmology; Philosophy of language; Argumentation theory; Rhetoric; Phenomenology; Philosophical hermeneutics; Ontology; Conceptual analysis; History of philosophy.

- Historical Studies: Historiography; Theory and philosophy of history; Methodology of history; Intellectual history; Conceptual history; Cultural history; Social and political history; History of knowledge; National and Latin American history; Global history; Colonial history; Memory and history; Historical geography and cartography; Imagination, speculation, and historical narratives.

- Humanistic Studies in Dialogue with the Social Sciences: Critical discourse analysis; Plain language; Digital humanities; Cultural studies; Research-Creation; Philosophical and historical anthropology; Human geography; Environmental humanities; Medical humanities; Digital humanities; Public humanities; Qualitative analysis of quantitative methods; Clinical sociology; Studies on violence, peace, and reconciliation; Communication studies with a humanistic approach; Gender studies.

Requirements for Submitting Proposals

In keeping with international editorial best practices in the field of Arts and Humanities (diverse impact, editorial exogamy, international outreach, and analytical rigor), proposals submitted by candidates for guest editors must be presented in a single document (PDF or Word), written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese, and must include, in detail, the following five sections:

- Title of the thematic issue: it should be concise, clear, conceptually strong, and reflect the central problem to be addressed.

- Thematic presentation and theoretical grounding (500 to 1,000 words): propose a conceptual delimitation and a definition of the object of study, the core question, or the problematizing axis of the dossier. The proposal should also detail the disciplinary or interdisciplinary frameworks, indicating how the theme and approach engage with the journal's scientific scope.

- Justification and academic relevance (500 to 1,000 words): include a synthesis of the state of the art and a clear account of the novelty and relevance of the proposal within the contemporary debate in the arts and humanities. This section should ideally state the potential impact and interest the issue will generate within the international research community.

- Scientific biography of the prospective guest editors: a team of two to three guest editors with diverse institutional affiliations is recommended. For each team member, please indicate: full name, current institutional affiliation, highest academic degree, ORCID iD, and a summary (max. 300 words) of their research lines, ongoing projects, and recent publications in the thematic area of the proposal.

- List of prospective authors and articles: as evidence of the commitment to attracting original manuscripts, this section of the proposal must list between 3 and 6 potential or pre-invited authors of recognized standing or relevant emerging trajectory for the thematic issue. For each anticipated contribution, please provide: the author's full name, institutional affiliation, tentative article title, and a brief abstract (100–200 words).

All manuscripts resulting from the call for the selected proposal must undergo double-blind peer review. Guest editors commit to actively participating in the preselection of manuscripts, suggesting qualified reviewers, and drafting a presentation/introduction for the dossier.

Timeline for the Open Call and the Editorial Process

- Opening of the call for thematic issue proposals: September 1, 2026.
- Deadline for submission of thematic issue proposals: January 10, 2027.
- Evaluation of proposals by the scientific board and notification of results: January 25, 2027.
- Public launch of the call for the selected proposal: January 31, 2027.
- Deadline for submission of articles for the thematic dossier: May 31, 2027.
- Peer review and revision process: June–November 2027.
- Early publication of revised articles: October 2027–January 2028.
- Copyediting, XML-JATS markup, and digital layout: November 2027–February 2028.
- Official publication (Vol. 25, No. 48, January–June 2028): February–March 2028.

How to Submit Proposals

Complete proposals must be submitted electronically to the journal's official email (co-herencia@eafit.edu.co) or processed through the Co-herencia journal's OJS (Open Journal System) platform, attaching the document (PDF or Word) with the required information, using the subject line "Application for Thematic Dossier Vol. 25-48 — [Short title of the proposal]."
