The Research Projects Exhibition (RPE) Special Session provides a dedicated forum for researchers, R&D specialists and practitioners from academia and industry to present ongoing or nearly completed research projects, share preliminary results, and receive constructive feedback. By fostering active dialogue among participants, this Special Session serves as a platform to explore innovative research directions and stimulate new collaborations.
The RPE Special Session promotes knowledge exchange and discussion of emerging solutions aligned with the themes of COMPSAC symposia, with particular emphasis on research projects that address novel challenges or adopt interdisciplinary perspectives. Submissions are welcome from both mature research projects with concrete outcomes and early-stage initiatives seeking feedback, validation, or collaboration opportunities. ==================== ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA ==================== A project is eligible for the RPE Special Session if it addresses challenges or applies techniques relevant to the themes of COMPSAC symposia and originates from a formally structured research project. In particular, eligible research projects have to meet the following criteria: • Not have been previously presented at an RPE Special Session at COMPSAC or at another venue • Be ongoing or nearly completed at the submission deadline • Have clearly defined objectives and a defined duration • Involve an identified team or consortium • Be funded by a recognized funding agency or institution through a competitive call, such as national or international research programs, EU-funded projects, or equivalent schemes Both fundamental and applied research initiatives, as well as industry-oriented research projects, are welcome. Each submission must describe a specific, identifiable research project that meets all the eligibility criteria above. ===================== SUBMISSION GUIDELINES ===================== Prospective authors are required to submit a short paper describing a single project (with a limit of 4 pages including figures and references, formatted in IEEE double-column style, adhering to the IEEE Conference Paper template. Submission must be done via EasyChair (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=compsac2027), selecting the "Special Session on Research Projects Exhibition" track. The paper must clearly present the project and provide, at a minimum, the following information: • Project details: full name, acronym, duration (from–to), participants, funding agency/institution, and URL • Authors and contributors: names of presenter(s) and main contributors • Abstract and keywords describing the project • Objectives and expected outputs: summary of project objectives and expected tangible results • Relevance: explanation of how the project (or one of its work packages) aligns with the themes of COMPSAC symposia • Current status and results: summary of ongoing progress, intermediate results, or milestones achieved (if the project is ongoing) Examples of papers from the 2026 edition onwards of the RPE Special Session are available in the IEEE COMPSAC proceedings on IEEE Xplore. The reviewing process will be single-blinded. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two members of the Program Committee. In case of disagreement, a third member of the Program Committee will be invited to provide an additional review. =========================== ATTENDANCE AND PRESENTATION =========================== All accepted papers that are registered and presented in person, as required, will be published in the official electronic IEEE COMPSAC proceedings. The RPE Special Session will normally adhere to the following presentation format: (i) a 4-minute oral presentation for each accepted contribution, held in a dedicated room, during which presenters will be expected to use slides displayed on a PC; (ii) a walk-in poster exhibition, allowing attendees to engage directly with presenters, discuss the research in greater depth, and foster interactive scientific exchange. The aforementioned presentation format is subject to the availability and constraints of the conference venue and may be adapted accordingly. Following the notification of acceptance, authors will receive more detailed information on the final session format, presentation requirements, and guidelines for preparing their contribution. ========================== SPECIAL SESSION ORGANIZERS ========================== • Massimiliano Garda (University of Brescia, Italy) • Tiziana Margaria (University of Limerick, Ireland) For any inquiries related to this Special Session, please feel free to contact us at: compsac2027-ss-rpe@easychair.org |
