Call For Papers

We invite you to present your work on the symposium on “Monitoring of Social Interactions and Initial Signs of Conflicts in Isolated Groups during Long-Term Missions”. The symposium is a part of the 7th International Conference on Methods and Techniques in Behavioral research “Measuring Behavior 2010” (http://www.measuringbehavior.org/) which will take place on 24 - 27 August 2010 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Symposium speakers will have to submit their abstracts via the online reviewing system (http://crs.borderit.com/) until April 19, 2010.

The symposium is focused on techniques which can help to improve working efficiency of small groups performing long term missions under hard external conditions (space missions, submarines crew, polar expeditions and so on). In this context we would like to present techniques for automatic monitoring of psychological states and interpersonal relations. Studies addressing the question of psychological and social effects in working groups is another way to approach the problem. Researchers working in these fields are very welcomed to present their work. And finally, the influence of the external conditions on the working performance is another important question which we would like to address within the symposium.

In more details, we invite abstract addressing broad range of techniques for automatic monitoring of emotional states and interpersonal relations:
1. Analysis of nonverbal behavior (automatic facial expression recognition, voice intonation recognition, body movement recognition, analysis of keyboard typing and mouse movements ans so on).
2. Usage of behavioral game theory to describe interpersonal relations and emotional states based on analysis of player's behavior in computer games.
We also welcome works focusing on description of interpersonal relations in particular those works which address question of conflicts, trust and collaboration in small groups. Contributions from researcher studying psychological aspects of social isolation, loneliness and stress are also very welcomed. We also would like to invite speakers studying psychological aspects of working performance depending on organization of working environment.

Multi-player computer games which can give useful and unique information about different aspects of social interactions in working groups (psychological preferences, trust, ability to collaborate) is another interesting research subject which is very welcomed on the symposium. We also would like to present and discuss usage of computer games as tools for improvement of interpersonal relations (ability to collaborate, increase of trust, resolving of conflicts).
