Call for Papers - International Journal of Ethical Leadership (IJEL)

An academic journal that expands the interdisciplinary, international conversation on what ethical leadership requires, published by the University of Akron Press in partnership with the Inamori International Center for Ethics and Excellence at Case Western Reserve University.

IJEL is an annual journal that serves to advance critical discussions of the importance and key elements of ethical leadership.

The journal is broad in scope, accepting submissions from academic, professional, and lay perspectives. Previously published works will also be considered for submission, if the prior publisher grants permission.

The 2018 publication of IJEL will also commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Inamori Ethics Prize, established in 2008. Contributions related to or highlighting the myriad accomplishments and ethical foci of previous Inamori Ethics Prize recipients are highly encouraged.

Previous Inamori Ethics Prize winners were:

Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund, 2017;

Peter Eigen, founder of Transparency International and pioneer of the global fight against corruption, 2016;

Martha C. Nussbaum, celebrated philosopher and groundbreaking scholar at the University of Chicago, 2015;

Denis Mukwege, physician and women's rights activist from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 2014;

Yvon Chouinard, CSR leader and founder of Patagonia, 2013;

David Suzuki, environmentalist and broadcaster, 2012;

Beatrice Mtetwa, a human rights lawyer in Zimbabwe, 2011;

Stan Brock, founder of Remote Area Medical, 2010;

Mary Robinson, former United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights and Ireland’s first woman president, 2009; and

Francis S. Collins, leader of the Human Genome Project and director of the National Institutes of Health, 2008.

We are looking for articles (2-5,000 words) that have relevance to theoretical and practical approaches to ethical leadership from diverse perspectives.

Submissions must be received by March 16, 2018. Please send all inquiries and submissions to Dr. Laura Mekhail (laura.mekhail@case.edu).
