Welcome to the 10th International Symposium on Advanced Vehicle Control, AVEC, which continues to expand on its excellent reputation in August 2010 with its first visit to the UK . The philosophy of the AVEC series of conferences is to foster links between academia and industry, with approximately equal contributions appearing from each. AVEC will therefore provide a range of formal and informal opportunities to publicise and learn about the latest research, share views, network, meet and make friends and colleagues old and new. The setting in 2010 is relaxed; Loughborough University has a large, green campus with all the conference accommodation, facilities and venues within walking distance of each other.

The content of AVEC 2010 will retain the traditional and still vital core subject areas of handling, suspension and powertrain, but this year we place a special emphasis on those topics that will shape the future of the Automotive industry most in the medium to long term : alternative propulsion, energy efficiency and intelligent transportation systems (see the full list of topics here).
