Call for Papers: Special Issue "Internet of Things (IoT) - 2nd Edition" A special issue of Applied Sciences (ISSN 2076-3417). This special issue belongs to the section "Computing and Artificial Intelligence". Deadline for manuscript submissions: 31 October 2022 https://www.mdpi.com/journal/applsci/special_issues/IoT_2 **************************************************************************************** The international standard, ISO/IEC 20924:2018 Information technology—Internet of Things (IoT)—Vocabulary, defines the IoT as being the “infrastructure of interconnected entities, people systems, and information resources together with services that process and react to information from the physical and virtual world.” In other words, the IoT has hyperconnectivity characteristics among smart things, services, and humans to provide useful and seamless services regardless of the type of network, device, and platform, with minimum human involvement. Nowadays, the IoT has become a fundamental paradigm in our lives and an important research topic in various fields, such as smart cities, smart cars, smart homes, healthcare, and smart factories. Research focusing on combining IoT technologies is ongoing in various fields. This Special Issue aims to identify emerging challenges in diverse domains (e.g., smart cities, smart cars, smart homes, smart grid, healthcare, military, and smart factories) for the IoT. Moreover, it will provide an up-to-date state of the art of aspects of the IoT. Topics of primary interest include, but are not limited to: - Emergent technologies for the IoT. - Cloud infrastructure for the IoT. - Machine learning for the IoT. - Testbeds for the IoT. - Interoperability in data, service, and security. - Standardization for the IoT. - Security and privacy for the IoT. - Case studies experience reports on the IoT. Manuscript Submission Information: Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website. Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
