Wired and wireless technologies and applications have become popular in recent years and have received wide deployments in all areas of our life. Recent advancement are dramatically increasing in the areas of vehicular communications for intelligent transportation systems, cognitive radio network (CRN) for dynamic and efficient spectrum sharing, and sensor networks for sensing and monitoring applications.
Vehicular communications for intelligent transportation system are expected to implement variety of wired and wireless technologies to provide safety as well as comfort for passengers and to make more efficient roads in the future by providing timely information to drivers and concerned authorities. Advancement in CRN will allow unlicensed users to co-exist and use licensed spectrum seamlessly without interfering licensed users thus relieving the congestion in unlicensed spectrum and using the licensed spectrum effectively. Sensors and sensor network’s potential usage is diverse but the main focus is in areas such as security, health, energy, food safety, environment monitoring and improving quality of all areas of life. The purpose of ACTICS is to serve as a forum for researchers from academia, industries, professionals, standard developers, students and practitioners to exchange ideas, present new research results and explore new research directions in advanced communication technologies and their applications. Topics of interest include but not limited to: o Network architectures and protocols o Mobility management and topology control o Performance modeling and analysis o Medium access control and routing protocols o Information aggregation and dissemination o CR enhanced Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle-to-Roadside (V2R) communications, o Challenges of V2V and V2R wireless communications o Trust, security and privacy issues o Encryption algorithm in sensor networks o Applications, case studies, and real-world test beds o Heterogeneous networking o Power aware and energy efficient design o Remote sensing and monitoring (health care, space structure, environments, hazards etc.) o Complexity analysis, self-organization/configuration, distributed co-ordination etc. o Application of software defined radio in advanced communication systems o Cross-layer designs and architectures o Self-organizing networks and autonomic communications o Ultra-wideband for spectrum sharing o Beam-forming and MIMO for interference avoidance in the CR context o Biological-inspired networking o Adaptive wireless communication systems o Spectrum sensing techniques, spectrum efficiency and soft spectrum usage o Parameter estimation for adaptation of wireless communication systems o Femto-cells and Cognitive Radios Networks o Spectrum, network, context, environment, location awareness o New applications in TV-band white space o Interference mitigation and awareness o Spectrum-management regulation and policy making o Game theory based protocols and algorithms o Standardization, such as IEEE 802.22, 802.19, 802.11n, 802.11p, etc. IMPORTANT DATES * Submission Deadline: January 31, 2011 (Extended) * Author Notification: February 15, 2011 * Final Manuscript: March 11, 2011 * Author Registration: March 25, 2011 * Conference Dates: June 30th-July 2nd, 2011 |
