Call For Papers

Dear Colleagues,

Please pass along the following call for papers in the interest of
advancing our community into emerging research areas.

====================================
Call for papers:

IEEE Micro Special Issue on Internet of Things

====================================
Co-editors:

Vijay Janapa Reddi, The University of Texas at Austin
Hyesoon Kim, Georgia Institute of Technology

====================================
Scope:

The Internet of Things (IoT) revolution is happening at an
unprecedented pace. New devices are rapidly emerging every day and
virtually every device is a smart device with intelligence built into
it and these devices are bred for connectivity. Widespread connectivity
amongst these intelligent devices has the potential to transform
society and lead to a wide range of new applications and services. To
enable this transformation, however, a large number of technological
advances in the hardware and software communities must to come
together. In this call, we solicit papers from a broad range of areas.

====================================
Topics:

) Architecture design and interface with networking and sensor devices
) Processor, sensor design for edge devices and gateways
) End-to-end system architecture design for IoT
) Edge analytics and big data processing for IoT
) Programming models, runtimes and tools for IoT
) Case studies, practices, and evaluations for IoT
) Cross-cutting IoT issues, including security, reliability and code portability
) Others (we welcome other topics, but if in doubt please contact us)

Please keep in mind that IEEE Micro is about computer architecture at
large, and that it is a very high-quality publication. We will enforce
these two criteria strongly to ensure quality readership.

====================================
Deadlines in 2016:

Initial submissions due: April 29
Initial notifications: June 24
Paper revisions due: July 22
Final notifications: September 2
Final versions: September 9

====================================
Submission procedure:

Log onto IEEE CS Manuscript Central
(https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/micro-cs) and submit your manuscript.
Please direct questions to the IEEE Micro magazine assistant
(micro-ma@computer.org) regarding the submission site. For the
manuscript submission, acceptable file formats include Microsoft Word
and PDF. Manuscripts should not exceed 5,000 words including
references, with each average-size figure counting as 250 words toward
this limit. Please include all figures and tables, as well as a cover
page with author contact information (name, postal address, phone, fax,
and email address) and a 200-word abstract. Submitted manuscripts must
not have been previously published or currently submitted for
publication elsewhere, and all manuscripts must be cleared for
publication. All previously published papers must have at least 30% new
content compared to any conference (or other) publication. Accepted
articles will be edited for structure, style, clarity, and readability.
