CDS 2013 Call for Papers
CDS 2013: The 1st IEEE International Workshop on Consumer Devices and Systems Held in conjunction with COMPSAC, the IEEE Signature Conference on Computers, Software & Applications - July 22-26, 2013 - Kyoto, Japan http://compsac.cs.iastate.edu/cds2013.php Goal of the Workshop The aim of this workshop is to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art, research and development in the area of consumer devices and systems, and to promote the study of both fundamental and practical aspects of such devices and systems. The workshop addresses researchers from different disciplines in academia and industry, as well as practitioners, who share interests in consumer devices and systems. The focus will be on novel consumer devices and systems, experiences drawn from development of such devices and systems, and emerging technologies for such devices and systems. Theme and Scope of the Workshop Consumer devices and systems have been smarter than before rapidly. Such devices include AV devices, home appliances, mobile phones, home gateway and healthcare devices. Such devices have computing and communication functions, and communicate with each other. Networks for consumer devices are also emerging rapidly. However, such networks suffer from incompatibility. Integrated architecture, protocol and middleware for consumer networks are required for advanced systems for consumer devices. Such systems include home energy management (HEMS), digital healthcare, home security, social network service, home appliance control from mobile phone and so on. Cloud computing also supports such applications. The purpose of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers and engineers to present research results in this area. Any submission whose content is relevant to the area of consumer devices and systems will be considered, but any submission whose subject matter is related to one of the following topics will be particularly welcome: - Smart Consumer Devices (e.g. Smart Phone, Smart TV, Home GW) - Novel Architecture, Protocol and Middleware for Consumer Networks - Novel Systems for Consumer Devices - Security and Management Issues for Consumer Devices and Systems - M2M Communications for Consumer Devices and Networks - Social Network Services for Consumer Devices - Emerging Technologies for Consumer Devices and Systems (e.g. Cloud Computing) Submission Papers must be submitted electronically via the CDS 2013 Submission Page. Follow the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines to prepare your papers: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/submission. All papers will be carefully reviewed by at least three reviewers. Papers can be submitted as regular papers (six pages), and the acceptance will depend on reviewer feedback. Accepted papers will be published in the workshop proceedings of the IEEE Computer Software and Applications Conference (COMPSAC 2013) by the IEEE CS Press. At least one of the authors of each accepted paper or fast abstract must register as a full participant of the workshop to have the paper or fast abstract published in the proceedings. Each accepted paper must be presented in person by an author.
