CALL FOR PAPERS
=======================================

12th International Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems and Simulation (MAS&S 2018)

Toledo, Spain, 20-22 June 2018

WWW: https://www.paams.net/workshops/mass and https://www.paams.net/
E-mail: info@paams.net

We would like to invite you cordially to consider contributing a paper to MAS&S 2018 - held as a part of the 16th International Conference on Practical Applications of Agents and Multi-Agent Systems (PAAMS 2018).

Multi-Agent Systems (MASs) provide powerful models for representing both real-world systems and applications with an appropriate degree of complexity and dynamics. MASs are designed for representing systems at different levels of complexity. They use agents as autonomous, goal-driven and interacting entities, which are organized into societies that exhibit emergent properties The agent-based model of a system can then be executed to simulate the behavior of the complete system, so that knowledge of the behaviors of the entities (micro-level) produces an understanding of the overall outcome at the system-level (macro-level).

Several research and industrial experiences have already shown that the use of MASs offers advantages in a wide range of application domains (e.g. financial, economic, social, logistic, chemical, engineering, or Internet of Things). When MASs represent software applications, they need to be validated and evaluated before their deployment and execution. Thus, methodologies that support these processes through simulation of the MAS under development are highly required. In both cases (MASs as software applications and MASs as models for the analysis of complex systems), simulation plays a crucial role that needs to be further investigated.

TOPICS
=======================================

MAS&S'18 aims at providing a forum for discussing recent advances in Engineering Complex Systems by exploiting Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation. In particular, the areas of interest are the following (although this list should not be considered as exclusive):

- Agent-based simulation techniques and methodologies
- Agent-Based Modeling and Simulation (ABMS)
- MAS simulation driven by formal models
- MAS simulation toolkits and frameworks
- Agent-oriented methodologies incorporating simulation tools
- Testing and validation of MASs through simulation
- Discrete-event simulation of MASs
- Scalability in agent-based simulation
- Industrial case studies based on MAS and simulation/testing
- Agent-based simulation for Internet of Things
- Agent-based Ambient Systems
- Agent-based modeling of intelligent social phenomena
- Agent Computational Economics (ACE)
- Agent Computational Finance (ACF)
- Agent-based simulation for energy systems
- Agent-based simulation of networked systems

PAPER SUBMISSION
=======================================

Papers should be submitted by 5 February 2018. You can find the instructions at https://www.paams.net/submission . All papers must be formatted according to the LNCS/LNAI/AISC template, with a maximum length of 12 pages. All proposed papers must be submitted in electronic form (PDF format) using the PAAMS 2018 conference management system at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=paams18 using the track “WS11-MAS&S.- Workshop on Multi-Agent Systems and Simulation (MAS&S)”.

All submitted papers will undergo a thorough review process. Each paper will be refereed by at least three experts in the field based on relevance, originality, significance, quality and clarity.

PUBLICATION
=======================================

Accepted papers will be included in PAAMS 2018 Proceedings, published by Springer in the Communications in Computer Information Science (CCIS) series.

At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend the symposium to present the paper in order to include the paper in the conference proceedings.

Authors of selected papers from PAAMS 2018 and co-located events will be invited to submit an extended and improved version to special issue in different journals: Neurocomputing (JCR 2016, 3.317) and Knowledge and Information Systems (JCR 2016, 2.146).
