WCEMP2008 - The 2008 Workshop on Advanced Computing for Critical
Systems and EMergency Preparedness and Response http://www.ufscar.br/wcemp2008/ July 12-18, Sao Paulo, Brazil In conjunction with The 11th IEEE Intl Conf on Computational Science and Engineering (CSE2008) http://www.icmc.usp.br/~cse08/ Submission Deadline: Extended to March 10, 2008 With the increasing demand for total safety and security of critical systems, decision making is crucial. In Collaborative Decision Making (CDM), information sharing among multiple parties can lead to key decisions based on accurate analysis of current event facts. When events lead to disaster, effective emergency management systems can, in many cases, greatly minimize human and asset losses. Advanced computing has increasingly enabled the creation of powerful and complex decision making and emergency management systems. The Workshop on Advanced Computing for Critical Systems and Emergency Preparedness and Response will be a one-day workshop, held in conjunction with the 11th Intl Conference on Computational Science and Engineering. The workshop will provide a forum for researchers of different advanced computing areas to discuss how better and more powerful tools and methodologies can be created to support decision making and emergency management when applied to critical areas such as Air traffic control, Avionics, Public transportation, Industrial plant and Process Control, Command and Control, Surveillance, etc. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: - Autonomic computing - Embedded and ubiquitous computing - Distributed Simulations - 3D Visualization - Security, Privacy and Trust - Grid, P2P and Web Services - Advanced networking (wireless sensor networks, vehicular ad hoc networks, mobile ad hoc networks, and WLANs, WPANs, WMANs and WWANs). Submitted papers will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. Final version of accepted papers should be at most 6 pages and will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press as CSE-08 workshop proceedings. At least one author of accepted papers are requested to register and present their work at the conference, otherwise their papers will be removed from the IEEE Digital Library after the conference. Please submit your paper to the workshop through the submission page of CSE 2008 WS: http://cse.stfx.ca/~cse08workshops/sub/ (in case the authors experience any problems with the submission process, please send the paper directly to regina at dc.ufscar.br). The IEEE instructions and template files for preparing papers are available at: http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/cps_forms.html (please consider the two-column format). Contact Information For any questions, please contact Prof. Regina B. Araujo (regina at dc.ufscar.br) and/or Prof. João Batista Camargo Jr (joao.camargo at poli.usp.br). |
