SSC 2016: Call For Papers. The SOCIAL SIMULATION CONFERENCE, SSC 2016, will be held in Rome, September 19-23, 2016, as the 6th joint meeting of ESSA, PAAA, and CSSSA. We cordially invite researchers and practitioners from all over the world to Rome, “caput mundi”, to share their latest results and foster our understanding of social complexity problems by means of computational simulations. SSC2016 will be the 6th joint meeting (previously known as WCSS) of the three main scientific societies for Social Simulation, Social Systems Science and Computational Social Science: ESSA (European Social Simulation Association), representing Europe; PAAA (Pacific-Asian Association for Agent-based Approach in Social Systems Sciences), representing Asia and Oceania; CSSSA (Computational Social Science Society of America), representing the Americas. We welcome contributions from researchers and practitioners with an interest in social simulation, from a wide range of disciplines, including anthropology, archaeology, artificial intelligence, biology, computer science, economics, environmental sciences, geography, history, political sciences, psychology and sociology, whether theoretical, experimental, practical, or technical. Important Dates Deadline for submissions: Monday, April 4 Notification of acceptance: Monday, June 6 (6/6/2016)! Deadline early registration: Thursday, July 30 Start late On-site registration: Monday, September 5 Conference starts: Monday, September 19 Guide for Authors Submissions have to be sent via Easychair. If you want to submit for a special session, the ESSA@work track or the PhD Colloquium (details on the website) you can tag your paper accordingly on the Easychair website. https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=ssc2016 The following types of contributions are accepted: Full papers – 10 to 12 pages, detailed presentation of theory, methodology and/or simulation results. Extended abstracts – 3 to 4 pages, presenting research in progress with enough detail to ensure proper evaluation and discussion. Posters – size A1 (smaller sizes are acceptable), presenting work in progress. An abstract (1-2 pages) should be submitted before contributions deadline. PhD Student projects – 3 to 4 pages, which present research ideas (i.e., a puzzle, a rationale for using social simulation models, methodology and expected results), to be discussed during the a PhD Colloquium to be held on a dedicated session, involving a group of PhD students and senior researchers. All the submissions must be in the Springer LNAI format . All the submissions will be reviewed by at least two independent experts. The best full papers will be selected to be presented in plenary sessions. Other full papers and all the extended abstracts will be presented in parallel sessions. Topics For a list of relevant topics, please refer to the topics list here . Proceedings and publications Conference pre-proceedings will be published online. Selected papers will be invited for publication in special issues of journals that will be announced later. Awards PhD students who are principal authors will be considered for the “Best Student Paper – ESSA 2015” award (350 EUR) and the “Best Student Poster – ESSA 2015” award (150 EUR).
