The GSMAC 2017 Conference organized by the Griffiths School of Management at Emanuel University of Oradea will explore the following theme Civil society, economic and social well-being.
Improving economic and social well-being is a continuous goal at all levels of governance, be it national, regional or at the level of communities and neighbourhoods. While this has been a much-debated and researched policy field by academics and practitioners alike, how civil society could contribute to this development has been far less investigated. Research and practice have shown, on the one hand, that there is a great potential for civil society organizations to, directly or indirectly, support socio-economic well-being. On the other hand, active societies and growing economies can, in turn, contribute to strengthening the role of non-state actors. Thus, the interplay between civil society and economic and social well-being is a highly relevant subject to research and discuss by both academics and practitioners in government, business and the non-profit sector. Relevant questions addressing these issues would include: • In what ways, have civil society organizations contributed to economic and social well-being? • At what level of governance (national, regional, local, community-level) are non-state actors best equipped to support economic and social development? • How can different government, business and non-profit actors support economic and social well-being? • In what ways, can growing economies and active societies help strengthen the civil society? We hereby would like to invite research papers coming from researchers and practitioners around the world to explore the various dimensions of these aspects. We welcome theory-based and empirical studies grounded both in qualitative or quantitative methodology as well as conceptual contributions. The Conference provides a platform for academics and practitioners in the field of business, management, public administration, sociology and social work to tackle new approaches to civil society studies and economic and social well-being. The conference is open to scholars and practitioners in Economics, Management, Information Technology, E-Business and e-Commerce Leadership, Marketing, Human Resources, Business Ethics, Operations Management, Financial Management, Entrepreneurship, Non-profit Organizations, Public Administration and Management, Logistics Management, Transdisciplinary Studies.
