Dear colleagues,
It is our pleasure to announce the 4th International Workshop on Reading Music Systems (WoRMS). It will take place on Friday, the 18th of November 2022. The workshop will be an online-only event in Zoom. WoRMS is a workshop that tries to connect researchers who develop music reading systems — especially from the field of optical music recognition, but also related topics such as score following, score searching, or information retrieval from written music — with researchers and practitioners that could benefit from such systems, like practitioners, librarians or musicologists. WoRMS will be organized as a one-day workshop and provides a great opportunity to share ideas, discuss current developments and shape the future of music reading systems. We would like for diverse points of view to engage, by explicitly inviting contributors without a technical background to participate as well. The topics of interest for the workshop include, but are not limited to: Music reading systems Optical music recognition Datasets and performance evaluation Image processing on music scores Writer identification Authoring, editing, storing and presentation systems for music scores Multi-modal systems Novel input-methods for music to produce written music Web-based Music Information Retrieval services Applications and projects Use-cases related to written music We strive to make the workshop as interactive as possible, with participants getting the opportunity not just to present their work, but to discuss current research in depth and foster relationships within the community. Therefore, promising ideas, work-in-progress submissions and recently submitted or published works are equally welcome. As a novelty of this edition, we welcome two types of contributions: Scientific Paper: Scientific papers with original ideas, new approaches, or experiments from the field of Music Reading Systems. These papers may be up to 4+n pages. Technical Report: Technical reports of successful applications, ongoing project reports, or use-cases from the field of Music Reading Systems. These reports may be up to 2+n pages. Each accepted contribution will receive a 15-minute slot for presentation and discussion, independent of the type of contribution. Important dates: Deadline for submission: 30th September 2022 Notification of acceptance: 21st October 2022 Camera-ready: 11th November 2022 Workshop: 18th November 2022 Visit https://sites.google.com/view/worms2022 for more information and updates.
