Call For Papers

The 34rd International Conference on Information Systems Development (ISD 2026) conference serves as a platform for advancing research and innovation in the field of information systems. The theme of ISD 2026 is Making ISD Sustainable: Reloaded with AI and Automation

The authors are always welcome to cover all general research topics in the area of ISD. Additionally, this year the conference seeks to address a range of emerging questions relevant to both research and practice in the ever-evolving field, such as:

- How can Model-Driven Development (MDD) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) be used to explicitly model, enforce, and verify non-functional requirements related to long-term maintenance, security, availability, and system sustainability
- What are the major challenges and opportunities of leveraging Generative AI to assist in model creation, iterative refinement, and formal validation (e.g., generating system architectures, behavioral models, or domain-specific language specifications)?
- How can AI-driven tools and automation be leveraged to maximize the long-term evolvability, reliability, and sustained availability of complex Information Systems?
- In what specific ways can Generative AI and AI-Assisted Programming effectively measure, manage, and minimize the accumulation of technical debt throughout the ISD lifecycle?
- What new skills, competencies, and educational pathways are essential for ISD professionals to effectively manage, govern, and leverage AI-driven automation to ensure the development of truly sustainable systems?
- What novel metrics and empirical methods are essential for quantifying the maintainability, adaptability, and resilience of software systems that integrate significant AI and automation components?
- What are the key strategies for integrating AI and automation into Model-to-Code and Model-to-Test transformations to enhance system robustness, quality, and conformance to evolving models?
- How do AI-driven low-code/no-code platforms impact the traditional roles, responsibilities, and long-term ownership of systems within the ISD lifecycle? (Focus on the shifting burden of maintenance from developers to citizen integrators).

The ISD 2026 conference held this year also provides an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to promote their research and practical experience, as well as to discuss issues related to Information Systems through papers, posters, and journal-first paper presentations.

The ISD 2026 conference offers researchers and practitioners a platform to promote their research, share practical experiences, and engage in discussions on issues related to Information Systems topics through Research Papers, Posters, and Journal-First Paper presentations.

Particular conference tracks are:

T1: Managing IS Development and Operations
T2: Model Driven or Model Based IS Development
T3: Lean and Agile Software Development
T4: Data Science and AI for IS Development
T5: Digital Transformation and Information Systems Methodologies
T6: Learning, Education, and Training for ISD
T7: Business Models and IS for Smart Environments
T8: General topics in ISD
